Hook up with other women hiking on the Ladies Hiking Facebook page. When our members (well, not exactly members, since it's all free), but when we ladies who love hiking have an organized hike to announce or if we're just looking for others to hike with us on a Sunday morning, we announce it on our Facebook page. If you're already on Facebook, click this link to find ladies-hiking.com page. Become a fan! If you're not familiar with Facebook, click here and register on your way to the page. (You can skip over the profile info they ask for by clicking the 'skip' button as you sign in.) Once you become a fan, you can post your upcoming hikes or post a request for hikes on your day of choice. It's simple, and just another way we're linking up - inspiring each other to take to the hills -- here at Ladies-hiking.com. |

One of the best sources, nationwide, for group hikes is the Sierra Club, and the Great Basin Group in northern Nevada, is particularly active. This is the Reno/Sparks and surrounding area club. Their 2009 season hikes have already begun, and they are scheduled for weeknights as well as weekends. I've dropped in on a few hikes with this group, and I certainly endorse them. I've hiked hills around the Reno/Sparks area that I never would have considered. New trails for me - and I always love that! |

Hiking doesn't have to be a solo affair; in fact, for Ladies Hiking Editor Judith, it usually isn't. She's hiked with Sierra Club hikers, with casual groups of women friends, and on club outings. Meet a few of her hiking "peeps".

It offers talks, trainings, and leads hikes. Check out the maps and info on its site to find trailheads and advice for hiking the trail (such as, when can you expect the snow to melt).
